CommonHealth

The CommonHealth program at the APA is an interactive, incentive-based program that promotes a healthier lifestyle for state employees.  Each quarter a new program is highlighted focusing on new and creative ways towards better personal health.  The programs include monthly challenges that require participants to complete given tasks related to the quarterly program.  Some programs in the past have hit on the topics of:

  • Eating healthier at work
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Fitness at home ideas

Once every two years the CommonHealth program provides a free medical screening where interested employees and their immediate family receive an assessment concerning their overall health.  Additional programs that CommonHealth sponsors include the Future Mom program, a free prenatal education program designed to promote healthy pregnancies and prevent premature birth by providing support and education to employees throughout their pregnancy.  The Breaking Free from Tobacco program offers individual phone support from health coaches who will guide participants through the process of quitting tobacco.  For more information on the CommonHealth program please see the website at www.CommonHealthVA.com.
